Jim: Yeah. I have, but they said the down-time will last until 4 p.m. today.

Stacy: Try to put a positive spin on it. At least you know the system will come back today.

 

down time: the time period when a service, such as computers, are not available to look up for information for customers. A technical term. You may hear it from customer representatives that the system is down so they cannot look up any information for you. Example. I called the bank for my checking account balance yesterday but the computers were down, the customer rep asked me to call back.

put a positive spin on it: talk in positive terms on a matter. Do not give away negative information. Example: It is very important that you will put a positive spin on everything when dealing with customers.
