call for

Jim: My sister is very ill. I spoke to her doctor a few minutes ago. Her cancer has grown. I must take her to the hospital immediately.

Stacy: I'm sorry to hear that. Does she have her husband with her now.

jim: No, her husband is away in Chicago on a business trip. I will call for her tomorrow to take her to hospital.

Vocabulary:

call for: to go and to get someone. If you call for someone, you go to that person's home or workplace, or whereever he or she is, to get him or her.

be sorry to hear something: idiomatic phrase. To feel sorry about hearing something. Example: I am sorry to hear she has cancer. She has two children to take care of.

be away on business trip: idiomatic phrase. To travel for a business purpose. My husband is away on business; he'll be back tomorrow.
